Kamishikimikumano – an Enigmatic Shrine in the Ancient Forest, Japan
Kamishikimikumano, Takamori-Machi, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. It might look like a scene from a magical fairy tale, but it isn’t. It is the most real Shinto shrine, found in the old forest. Moreover it is found in a lush area just outside the down, however it looks like it is embedded deep in the enigmatic woods.
The ancient shrine has served as an inspiration for “Hotarubi no Mori e” – a manga film by Yuki Midorikawa. Its fan ageo_akaihana has captured it and dedicated an entire page on Flickr to share the beautiful temple and its surroundings. Take a look and have a little mind travel to the undiscovered destination.
